September walks and parks consultation

From Corinna Edwards-Colledge –

Just wanted to let you know quickly about two lovely free special Healthwalks coming up this month – including one of our lovely Art Healthwalks tomorrow at Stanmer.  As ever you can just turn up to either or both if you are interested.

Also, if you care about the future of our parks  and green spaces you might want to have your say in the current parks consultation in our city.  It has been put together to look at future options for our parks and open spaces as further cuts to council budgets by central government are absorbed: www.brighton-hove.gov.uk/parks-consultation.

Free special Healthwalks in June

From Corinna Edwards-Colledge –

Hello walkers

June is packed with many fantastic and free special Healthwalks to get you out and about.  Details for all of them are below and they are all walks that you can just turn up to if you are interested.

June Healthwalks

I also wanted to share with you some recent testimonials from our walkers.  It is really amazing how much something like a simple walk in company can impact on a person’s health and wellbeing:

‘I have made many friends. My husband died a year ago and the Healthwalks have really helped me in my loss.’

‘The leaders are fantastic and they are part of the reason I continue with the Healthwalks. The history of the areas when walking is also interesting’

‘I have gained enormous amounts of friends, and I meet up with walkers outside of Healthwalks!’

‘I suffer from asthma, but I do enjoy all the walking as often as I can. I also think it does and has improved my health’

The new Summer 2016 Get Active Programme including all our regular and special Healthwalks is out now.  You can download it by following the link below.  We are also currently putting together a plain text version.

If you have any difficulties downloading the programme let me know.  Please note though that after today I am on annual leave until April 12th.  so please contact my colleague Detty.Gravett@brighton-hove.gov.uk between those times if you want a PDF emailed directly to you.  Please do try the link first though as the majority of people find this the easiest way to access the programme.

Happy New Year from Healthwalks!

unnamed

Happy New Year to everyone, I hope that you had a lovely Christmas and New Year break.  If you’d like to be more active in 2016 remember that Healthwalks is a great way to do that as it is a form of exercise that almost anyone – regardless of age or ability – can get involved in, and it’s also really sociable too.  Another great benefit of walking is that you get out into our beautiful countryside and open spaces, which my favourite three pictures that I took in 2015 above show!  And don’t forget, all of our walks are on bus routes so you can be active and travel actively too.

You can view or download the current programme of walks from www.brighton-hove.gov.uk/healthwalks, or you can call me for a hard copy (01273 292564).  I’ve also listed this month’s special walks below.
