SRRA Website Policy

The Editor will take day-to-day executive decisions regarding the suitability of posts and will consult the editorial group when the need arises.

They will be guided by:

A. The Objectives of SRRA as outlined in the Constitution:

“To safeguard and promote the interests of residents in the area on matters concerning housing and the environment. To help to improve living conditions, community facilities and services for residents living in the group’s area. In order to do this we are committed to representing the views of residents in our area of operation.

The group will uphold equal opportunities and work towards good relations amongst all members of the community, specifically prohibiting any conduct which discriminates or harasses on grounds of race, religion, disability, political belief, gender or sexual orientation.”

B. The website will therefore also post stories relating to ‘local’ city issues of relevance beyond the immediate area e.g. school provision, rubbish collection etc. if the editorial board consider it useful to the membership.

C. SRRA hopes to represent all residents regardless of their political views. The editorial board will ensure that any postings provided as ‘news’ are balanced and credible to readers of all persuasions.

D. The editorial group will act in good faith to ensure accuracy as far as possible but will be, in many cases, unable to independently verify information – quotations from external sources will be identified as such and links provided where appropriate.

E. The editors will inform members of controversial news items from a position of strict neutrality, while encouraging members to express their opinions in open debate via the discussion sections on the site.
