From Corinna Edwards-Colledge –
Well it’s the first of October and also the day to launch our new programme of lovely free Healthwalks, both regular weekly and one-off special walks and events. The regular walks are at the beginning of the programme and the calendar of one-off walks at the back of the programme. There’s also a really helpful venue list on the last page where you can see at a glance the full address and public transport details for every location. It’s particularly important to keep active through the winter months as it helps boost the immune system, keep us warm and in a positive frame of mind. Healthwalks generally go ahead whatever the weather, unless it is severe (ie ice or torrential rain) so it’s a great way to stay active and get fresh air through the winter months.
You can download the programme in both full-colour and easy read plain text version from http://www.brighton-hove.gov.uk/content/leisure-and-libraries/sports-and-activity/healthwalks-programme. If you have any problems downloading let me know and I can send you the PDF direct. Or, if you’d prefer a print copy let me know. We are trying to cut down on costs and save trees though, so if you can manage with an e-version that’s great.
Last call too for our Volunteer Healthwalk Leader training tomorrow (Fri 2 Oct). We still have a few places, and we particularly welcome Healthwalkers to do the training as they often make the best Healthwalk Leaders too! If you’d like to give something back to the scheme and have some spare time let me know today if you’d like to attend. The day runs from 10 am to 4.30 pm here in Kings House in Hove. It’s free, and includes lunch and a sample Healthwalk.
Best wishes and happy walking!
